The Health Science Center at the University of Tennessee has acquired a Yomi dental surgery robot with help from an alumnus donation, which was used in the first robot-assisted dental implant procedures in West Tennessee, according to a report from UTHSC news.

Hank McKay, a dentist and alumnus whose son is also currently enrolled in UTHSC for dentistry, donated funds to help the college obtain the robotics technology. McKay also serves as student recruitment chair on the UTHSC Alumni Board of Trustees.

"We're trying to recruit the best students from all over the country, and if you've invested in cutting-edge technology, the school really stands out," McKay said in the report. After donating funds to help obtain a robot, McKay also helped initiate training on the system, which has now been put into active use.
