There are now five health and wellness vending machines operating on three campuses at the University of Michigan.

The machines offer students and staff a range of items, from Naloxone nasal spray to COVID-19 tests to emergency contraception products, according to a Michigan Daily report. The vending machines are operated by University Health Services and a campus group called Wolverine Wellness, and campus feedback played a role in the project.

"There was a really intentional effort to get student feedback along the way from the very beginning, including the vending machines," Mary Jo Desprez, director of health promotion and Wolverine Wellness, told the news outlet. "We had some ideas, but then we actually took those ideas to a group of student leaders and sent out some surveys to just see (if) this (is) what (students) are looking for? I also think the thing that we have all committed to is just letting it evolve to see what actually is in demand."
