Siemens launches Sinamics G220 general purpose drive

Siemens has launched the Sinamics G220 multi-purpose drive with features for IOT, edge and cloud computing integration and more, according to a press release.

The adjustable-speed drive has been introduced to the North American market, with features including:

• Integrated Clean Power technology (with harmonics reduction up to an estimated 97%).
• Digital twin technology leveraging the Siemens Startdrive drive commissioning tool (for testing drives before hardware is available) and TIA Portal system.
• Integrated web server for commissioning.
• IoT module to allow integration with cloud and edge computing applications.
• Integrated cybersecurity in the drive and UMAC security in TIA Portal.
• Customizable hardware and mounting options, including modularity, for a range of use cases.
• Part of Siemens sustainability pipelines including carbon neutral production sites and paperless delivery systems.
