Motorists refueling at Shell stations will enjoy a better, faster experience at the pump, thanks to Gilbarco Veeder-Root's Invenco iNFX payment solution, according to a press release.

Shell recently selected Gilbarco Veeder-Root to deploy its solution across the Shell U.S. network of nearly 13,000 locations by the end of 2024.

The Invenco iNFX payment solution and corresponding cloud management platform will replace Shell's legacy payment platform with a hardware agnostic micro-services based solution to allow Shell's branded retailers to provide faster transactions, greater uptime and new features. The solution is a cloud managed, IoT based microservices platform, including an electronic payment server.

Invenco's iNFX platform includes:

  • Digital agility. Decoupling EPS from a monolithic site architecture allows Shell to add new capabilities and features quickly, expediting digital transformation without disrupting site operations and harmonizing payment systems based on global standards.
  • Faster transactions. iNFX removes latency associated with legacy site architectures.
  • Rapid deployment. Standards-based APIs and plugins enable integration with minimal customization. The iNFX SDK supports third party development of plugins to reduce the integration effort.

"Shell has an objective on delivering outstanding consumer value propositions with a focus on payments and compliance," Walt Gothard, North American business technology manager at Shell, said in the press release.
