A restaurant called Burgerbots has opened in Los Gatos, California, utilizing robots to assemble burgers in just 27 seconds, according to a New York Post report.

Developed in collaboration with ABB Robotics, the system uses two robotic arms to handle the entire burger assembly process, from placing the patty on the bun to adding toppings based on a QR code on the box.

While the automated process aims for speed and accuracy, the finished burgers reportedly cost around $18. The implementation of robots in the fast-food industry comes after California's minimum wage increase for fast-food workers. However, Burgerbots clarifies human staff are still involved in the process, primarily in serving customers.

"In the next five years, I believe that most restaurants will have some form of robotic automation, whether it's back-of-house preparation, assembly, or even front-of-house service," Elizabeth Truong, Burgerbots creator, told the news outlet. "It will become less of a novelty and more of a necessity."
