Port Canaveral, a port in South Florida that largely services the cruise industry, has teamed with Florida Power & Light Co. to introduce six FPL EVolution Level 3 EV charging stations at the Port, according to a press release. The stations will be installed in the Port's Cove District parking lot. Level 3 stations can fully charge most electric vehicles within a one-hour time frame.
"For a few years, we've noticed growing interest from Port visitors who operate electric vehicles," Bob Musser, Port Canaveral senior director of environmental, said in the press release. "These stations will offer the option to 'top off' the charge before hitting the road after enjoying our Port."
The six charging stations, including one compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act standards, are projected to be fully operational in less than a year with potential plans for additional charging stations in the future.
The chargers at Port Canaveral will join a network of more than 100 public charging locations FPL offers EV drivers across the state.
