IER-Easier, a Paris-based kiosk provider, has introduced a self-service kiosk to allow customers to weigh and ship parcels, according to a parcelandposttechnologyinternational.com report.
Peter Balfour, business developer of postal and vending at IER-Easier, said the solution is suited to parcel deposit boxes and shop counters.
He said the kiosk will reduce queues in post offices and lessen the impact of industry labor shortages during peak times.
The kiosk features a privacy screen to prevent anyone at more than a 30-degree angle from reading its information. This feature is intended to support a future biometric functionality that could be applied to digital government services such as driver license renewals and passports, which could drive traffic to post offices.
Easier is a subsidiary of the Bolloré Group, a publicly traded, Paris-based conglomerate focused on logistics and transport.
