Ohio will become the first state to build EV charging stations under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program, the state department of transportation and Gov. Mike DeWine announced, according to a wchstv.com report.
Ohio was also the first state to announce sites of its EV charging stations.
The first NEVI charging station is being constructed at the Pilot Travel Center at Route 42 along Interstate 70 west of Columbus. The station will offer EVgo chargers to provide up to 350 kilowatts charging a single vehicle.
With four cars charging simultaneously, each port will receive up to 175 kilowatts, enough power to charge an EV up to 80% in 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the battery.
