Iraqi Customs has reported that its automation initiative has helped reap "historic" revenue gains in Q1 2024, according to a Iraqi News report.
Revenue increased 120% as compared with the Q1 2023, according to Hassan Al-Ukaily, director-general of Iraqi Customs. He credited the gains to automation technology implementation along with procedure improvement in a statement provided to the news agency.
The automation initiative is being extended to all Iraqi ports, with a planned completion date in mid-2025.
