Capsule, an AI-powered shopping app, aims to transform online retail shopping, starting with women's fashion, according to reporting by Business Insider.

The system takes in data from thousands of retail sites every night in order to allow the AI algorithms to study the information to help users shop across all their favorite retail outlets for their desired fashion.

For example, users can simply take a photo of a dress and upload it to Capsule, which will find equivalent or similar items for sale.

Capsule aims to "create a universal horizontal data layer of commerce that exists above the internet," Michele Van Ruiten, CEO and co-founder at Capsule, told Business Insider in an interview. "This data layer understands products, every shoppable product globally, what it is, who sells it, what it's made of, and its resale value."
