Idaho residents can donate to local charities during the Christmas season by purchasing a donation from a vending machine at Broulim's supermarket in Ammon, according to an eastidahonews.com report. The machine, called the Miracle Box, is sponsored by Bearing the Light Foundation and is modeled on the Giving Machines offered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, none of which happen to be available in Idaho.
Cards in the machine designate various donations to select, such as 50 meals for the Idaho Falls Soup Kitchen. Once the purchase is made using a payment card, the donation gets sent to the charitable organization.
Items in the machine include baby formula, diapers, school shoes, newborn welcome-home baskets, pet vaccines and hygiene kits.
There are around 16 local businesses matching every donation processed.
The machine will be available through Christmas Day.
