Harm reduction supply machines expand in New York State

A New York health organization has deployed harm reduction supply vending machines across 12 locations in the state, according to the MATTERS (Medication for Addiction Treatment and Electronic Referrals) website.

The machines provide free fentanyl test strips, xylazine test strips and Narcan (naloxone) kits 24/7, 365 days a year.

Users enter a code number, their birth year and zip code, and can choose up to three items.

The test strips are packaged into bundles of 10 while each Narcan box has two doses of the medication.
