Forge Battery, a subsidiary of materials science firm Forge Nano, has launched its 21700 Gen. 1.1 Supercell EV battery, which it says can charge in 10 minutes, according to reporting from Electrek.
The batteries include Atomic Armor, a nanocoating that helps provide high energy density for battery cells, and the fast charging does not damage battery life, according to Forge.
"With higher silicon content in the anode and the ability to cycle at higher voltages, the Forge Battery Supercell is set to outcompete state-of-the-art Tier 1 suppliers globally," Barbara Hughes, VP of energy storage at Forge Nano, said in a statement quoted by Electrek.
Commercial production is scheduled to begin in 2026 at Forge Battery's factory in North Carolina.
