California town installs library vending machines

Library patrons in Altadena, California will be able to access materials at two recently installed book vending machines, according to a pasadenanow.com report.

The machines are located at Prime Pizza at 1900 Allen Ave. and outside the main library at 600 E Mariposa Street.

The machines allow library cardholders the ability to browse, reserve, collect and return materials 24/7.

Patrons can also sign up for a digital library card and immediately check out items.

International Library Services supplied the machines which were paid for under a budget bill which secured $250,000 authored by California Assembly member Chris Holden in 2021.
