The California Air Resources Board has approved Electrify America's spending plan for EV charging stations despite inadequacies the board cited in the plan, according to a report in The Los Angeles Times.
The board approved spending $200 million, the final portion of an $800 million settlement requiring Volkswagen, parent company of Electrify America, to provide an EV charging network in the state. The settlement penalized the company for installing software that falsified emissions testing data and suppressed that the cars emitted more pollution than allowed by state law.
A total of $600 million has already been allocated to cover 1,093 EV chargers and EV marketing and education programs.
