Adelaide Oval in Adelaide, Australia, a multi-purpose sports ground used primarily for cricket and Australian rules football matches that can hold up to 70,000 fans, has deployed 20 Mashgin self-checkout kiosks, according to a press release.
Mashgin uses AI-powered computer vision technology to instantly recognize and ring up foods and/or drinks, allowing sports fans to check out faster than with a cashier.
The terminals were trialed during Adelaide Oval's recent Australian Football League season, with positive feedback resulting in the technology becoming a permanent fixture ahead of this week's international cricket test match between Australia and the West Indies.
An independent survey of nearly 1,000 AFL fans who used Mashgin at Adelaide Oval found overwhelming support for the kiosks.
Mashgin currently has more than 100 major league sports and entertainment stadiums and arenas using its kiosks.
