Amazon worker strike affects 7 delivery hubs

Amazon is facing a continued strike by Teamster union affiliates at seven of its distribution hubs, with the AP reporting that workers initiated the strike on Thursday after Amazon failed to respond to a Sunday deadline for contract negotiations.

Amazon is facing a continued strike by Teamster union affiliates at seven of its distribution hubs, with the AP reporting that workers initiated the strike on Thursday after Amazon failed to respond to a Sunday deadline for contract negotiations.

While the International Brotherhood of Teamsters has a larger focus on contractors who provide delivery driver services to Amazon, the group stated it has 10,000 members among Amazon employees, according to the report.

Affected hubs include three locations in Southern California along with distribution hubs in San Francisco, New York City, Atlanta and Skokie, Illinois.

"We believe in the strength of our network and plan for contingencies to minimize potential operational impact or costs," an Amazon spokesperson told the AP in the report.
