Amazon is reportedly building software to create humanoid robots that may one day serve as a delivery worker as well as humanoid park for testing purposes.
The AI software would power robots built with hardware by other companies, according to a report at The Guardian which cited an Information report.
The robots would deliver via Amazon's Rivian vans driven by a human. It would create the opportunity for faster drop off as both the robot and human driver could deliver packages.
The testing park is described as an indoor obstacle course at an Amazon office in San Francisco.
This the second humanoid robot initiative by the omnichannel retailer. It has already conducted trials with the Digit robot from Agility Robotics.
