AI denim? Soorty launches HumAIn Chapter 2 collection

AI may be the hottest buzzword in tech right now, with ChatGPT and similar products revolutionizing everything from content creation and technology to areas of the food and service industries; but is fashion next?

Soorty, a Pakistan-based denim manufacturer, has launched its AI-created denim collection HumAIn Chapter 2, according to a press release.

The collection is the latest installment in the vertically-integrated brand's AI-created line and was created in collaboration with designer and AI-expert Volker Ketteniss along with denim influencers Amy Leverton and Shannon Reddy from Denim Dudes, who all leveraged Stable Diffusion, an open-source generative AI platform.

"Every season we work on future forecast stories to guide the denim industry on new silhouettes, styling and market shifts," Leverton and Reddy said in the release. "Feeding AI with this information was a really interesting exercise in interpretation. We fed it images from our FW24/25 story, Avant Y2K' which is in itself a modern interpretation of the past. The possibilities that came back were endless, some of them led off into a tangent and some of them created ideas we loved and would never have considered."
